μGrid (concept)
Done by Niko and myself as concept creators and Alcozombie [behance] as designer
This is yet another 'ecosystem' concept, this time about music. Dig this: all the big boys treat songs as a deliverable, while we treat them as context. If you're listening to music (says us), you don't consume content. Rather, your listening to music is a state of affairs, like sitting on a sofa. Can we offer you something to consume then? I am certain we can.
Instead of being the outcome of a marketplace activity, a music player becomes the marketplace itself. In other words, instead of being sold to you, it now sells to you. What it sells we call μBits.
The first obvious thing is effects, scratches, mixtapes, all things having to do with how music is perceived. Each of these things is a μBit.
Less evident are the social components like chats, maps or likes each of which is a separate μBit.
What's good about this is we never said it was an 'app'. It's an ecosystem and so should be available to any app or web app or media player or even a live event where music is used. Peace out.
